Club Paradiso NYD 2012

Limelite & Sunset Events have single handily built up the reputation of Club Paradiso to a sell out event every year since it’s beginning. The prime beach front Location and amazing array of international live acts and Djs coupled with Perth’s amazing summer weather has made Paradiso NYD & Australia Day two unmissed calendar events, January 1st 2012 was of course no exception!

I arrived at 5 to an already thumping room, Mel B had a flurry of dancing going on at the front of the stage, the crowd as well as Mel were obviously lapping it up to banging tracks such as the (Moguai Remix) of Ya Mama (Push The Tempo) by Fatboy Slim.

I decided to nosey on over to the Lucid Dreaming Stage, I arrived to an entertaining back catalogue of songs from the 90’s and throughout the 00’s. From Justin Timberlake’s Senorita to J-Kwon’s Tipsy and even Crystal Waters 100% Pure Love, everyone in there loved it and it provided the perfect late afternoon break to the mainstream house in the outside arena. The stage later turned to House and Tech House and had an Ibiza style feel as the sun set through the large glass windows lining the room.

Mind Electric began the night by kicking up a frenzy of voiceless driving bass tunes like Deniz Koyu – Tung and Coming Home (Dirty South Remix). Then moving on to more popular tunes with a nice bootleg of Avicii’s Levels mixed with Gotye’s – Somebody That I Used to Know.

Next up headliner Wynter Gordon stole the lime light for an amazing performance leaving most wanting more, singing nearly every track from her studio album With The Music I Die such as – Dirty Talk & Buy My Love. The loudest audience response came from her 2009 club hit collaboration with David Guetta – Toyfriend, which had hundreds cheering to the familiar hook.

Zelimir continued the onslaught of House & Electro, throwing in plenty of bootlegs of mainstream tunes to keep his set very interesting. Layering popular tunes from Daft Punk for example over Dirty Dutch bass-lines, he kept the whole room excited without exhausting them before for the main show.

The Shapeshifters came on to a packed house, opening with a huge progressive beat, the style of music veered heavily from what had been on offer the whole day and the crowd of course loved it. With huge Trance style build-ups and massive Main-Room House breakdowns punters were going insane, girls on shoulders, hands in the air, this was defiantly a Dj that was perfectly suited for the beachfront location. Recent tunes of theirs had the best responses, She Freaks & Chime were defiantly memorable moments, but the climax of the whole night came from The Shapeshifters hit – Waiting For You, Epic just doesn’t quite sum it up!

All out another amazing day and night with even more amazing people and music all thanks to the Limelite crew. Don’t miss out on the next Paradiso this Australia day featuring The Stafford Brothers, Hook N Sling, Tydi and the of course the Limelite all-star local crew!

Eliot Mireylees.
