Slam Summer Beach Volleyball Festival

Saturday 06.02.10

SCARBOROUGH BEACH PERTH WA

SLAM Beach Volleyball Festival is back for the summer of 2009 & 2010 with our first festival happening at Palm Beach... So have a ball this summer at SLAM Festival. (venues and dates below)

SLAM Festival is now in its 10th consecutive year! Having originally drawn it’s inspiration from the success of the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games beach volleyball, SLAM has gone the distance and is now one of Australia’s longest running national events, continuing to grow each year.

SLAM combines all the elements that typify Australian culture; sport, the beach, music, sun, surf and of course ice cold beer to create a brilliant day of fun in the sun.

Part beach party, part volleyball battle, part fancy dress competition and part music festival, SLAM is a great day of summer festivities on the beach for competitors, spectators and party people alike.

National dates are as follows:

Palm Beach, NSW: TBA (festival)
St Kilda, Melbourne, VIC: Saturday, 19th December 2009 (festival)
Broadbeach, Gold Coast, QLD Saturday, 23rd January 2010 (festival)
Scarborough, Perth, WA: Saturday, 6th February 2010 (festival)
Glenelg, SA: Saturday, 13th February 2010 (festival)
Nobby's Beach Newcastle, NSW: Sunday, 21st February 2010 (after party)
Manly Beach, NSW: Saturday, 27th February 2010 (after party)

Each event is categorised as either a festival or after party, a festival being a fully licensed, all day party that comes to you! It’s located right on the beach and runs all day long and into the night with an on site licensed area serving alcoholic beverages thanks to Corona. An after party event has a separate after party venue for competitors and spectators complete with DJ’s, drinks and much more fun for all after the competition cools down on the beach.

At each event the tournaments consist of three Round Robin levels with three trophies; Cup, Plate and Bowl. Top placing teams play for the Cup, middle placers play off for the Plate and bottom placers battle for the Bowl.

This year’s theme is Op Shop, so go for vintage glam, thrifty threads or just grab your sexiest bikini or brightest board shorts and get ready to dance, dive and SLAM as you compete in Australia’s favourite day in the sun, sand and surf, whilst getting your groove on to some of Australia’s most up and coming DJs.

With a line-up of Australia’s best DJs, dancing, live music, celebrity hosts, the ‘Fashions on the Beach’ prize for the team with the wildest costume and Corona beach parties (and after parties), you are guaranteed to have a ball.
